Here is the result of last week's effort. I'm not satisfied with it. I call it a WIP since I will try to correct many things in it.
First, I don't like the "mauve" color we can see on the slope. My teacher put it there to show me how to put shadow. But that mauve is not on my pallet. I don't like it. Also, there is not direct sun on the part of the hill but I put white snow there. The snow should have been light blue instead of white.
Second, the reflection of the slope in the water. This is not the way I normally do those kind of relection. My teacher told me to paint the slope all the way into the water and then, paint the water over it. Doesn't look good in my opinion. Normally, I would have paint the river with thick paint and then work on the reflection "wet on wet". My painting of the boats show the result of my technic.
Third, the front rocks. I like strong shadows. My first version of the rock was very dark on the shadow side with a touch of white-yellow at the top. I've been told to put a light blue on the shadow side. I prefer my way to do things.
Fourth, the tree that is falling into the river really doesn't look good. I will have to redo it.
Finally, I still have work to do with the fartest part of the river (reflection of the sky, the distant trees, etc...) and the distant shore which is too uniform in my taste.

Voici le résultat de mon cours de la semaine dernière. Pas très satisfait de cette tentative. Je vais tout probablement y retoucher cette semaine.
D'abord, je n'aime pas la couleur mauve que le professeur m'a fait mettre dans la pente. Ce n'est pas une couleur que j'affectionne particulièrement. Aussi, comme il n'y a pas de lumière direct, il me semble qu'il ne devrait pas y avoir de neige blanche. Il devrait y avoir plutôt différentes teintes de neige bleue.
Deuxièmement, la façon dont le prof m'a fait faire la réflection de la pente dans l'eau ne me plaît pas. Il a commencé par me faire peindre la pente jusque dans l'eau. Par la suite, je devais peindre la rivière par dessus. Normalement, j'aurais peint la rivière avec épais de peinture et aurait travaillé la réflection "wet on wet". La peinture de mes bateaux montre le genre de résultat que ma technique donne.
Troisièment, les rochers à l'avant ne me plaisent pas. J'aime les ombres fortes. Ma première version des rochers présentait des ombres très foncé et une touche de blanc-jaune sur le dessus du rocher. Le prof m'a fait ajouter du bleu pâle à l'arrière de la roche. Je préfère la première version que j'ai réalisée.
Quatrièment, l'arbre qui pend au dessus de la rivière n'est vraiment pas bien fait. Je dois le refaire totalement.
Finalement, je dois retravailler la partie lointaine de la rivière (réflection du ciel et des arbres distants) ainsi que laberge de la rivière qui est trop uniforme à mon goût.
